Popular online game platform Roblox has debunked rumors spreading on social media that it will support XRP cryptocurrency payments.
The false claims originated from a now-deleted tweet by payments processor BitPay stating users could utilize XRP via Xsolla for games like Roblox and Smite.
However, Roblox confirmed to reporters that suggestions that it would enable spending Robux in-game with XRP are inaccurate. BitPay admitted the post contained errors and removed it.
Nonetheless, misleading interpretations circulated rapidly, with influential crypto voices alleging an official Roblox “integration” with XRP. One heavily shared tweet suggested this signaled an improved legal climate for the disputed token.
In reality, Roblox never announced integration with XRP or plans to accept it for payments. The situation demonstrates how quickly misinformation propagates online, despite source deletion.
Ripple also failed to capitalize on the rumors, missing an opportunity to rehabilitate XRP’s reputation had the speculation been valid. The episode underscores the need for caution against unverified claims on social platforms.
While the crypto community awaits XRP’s true regulatory clarity, this incident reinforces taking a measured approach to digital asset news and partnership announcements. Vetting sources remains critical before sharing or reacting.
