Gold and Silver Price Predictions for Today (October 24) – Crash Continues?

Gold and silver are heading into October 24 under heavy selling pressure, with both metals testing levels that looked distant only a few weeks ago.

Gold has fallen to roughly $4,003 after briefly dipping below $4,000, extending a decline that has pushed the metal to its lowest level in about three months. Silver is trading near $54.10 after another wave of selling drove XAG/USD into the low-$53 area.

The damage is no longer confined to a single bad session. Gold is heading for a weekly decline of roughly 4%, its worst in several months, and silver has fallen even faster.

The question for October 24 is whether deeply oversold conditions finally produce a meaningful rebound or whether the market still has another leg lower.

Gold Price Tests the $4,000 Line

I analyzed the four-hour gold chart, and the trend remains clearly bearish.

Gold has been producing lower highs and lower lows since its August peak near $4,680. Attempts to recover toward $4,150-$4,200 during October repeatedly failed, and the latest decline has now taken XAU/USD directly into the psychological $4,000 area.

The most interesting reading is RSI.

Four-hour RSI has dropped to approximately 28, placing gold in oversold territory. Its RSI average remains higher around 34.4.

That increases the probability of at least a short-term bounce, but oversold conditions alone are not enough to call a bottom.

Gold has also fallen far beneath its 200-day moving average, which is around $4,510 on the chart. That shows how significant the latest correction has become.

For October 24, $4,000 remains the obvious decision point.

If buyers can defend it, I would watch $4,040 first and then $4,080-$4,100.

If $4,000 gives way decisively, the next area I would monitor is approximately $3,950-$3,975, followed by $3,900.

Silver Price Is Looking Even Weaker

Silver’s four-hour structure is similarly bearish, but the decline has been more aggressive.

XAG/USD is around $54.10 after reaching the low-$53 area during the latest move.

That means the $55-$56 region that previously attracted buyers has now been lost.

RSI is approximately 30, with its average near 35.6. Silver is therefore very close to oversold territory after another rapid leg lower.

There was a modest reaction from the latest low, which is worth watching, but buyers have not yet done enough to change the structure.

Silver first needs to reclaim approximately $55.

Above that, $56-$57 becomes the more meaningful recovery region.

The downside is more uncomfortable.

If the low-$53 area fails to hold, $52 becomes the next obvious level, followed by the psychologically important $50 area.

Silver’s 200-day moving average remains all the way near $71.30, showing just how far the metal has moved from its broader trend reference.

Why Gold and Silver Are Crashing

The latest metals selloff is being driven by an unusual combination of macro pressures.

Oil is one of the biggest problems.

Brent crude recently reached around $112 per barrel as Middle East tensions and supply concerns intensified. Expensive energy is feeding fears that inflation could stay elevated, making it harder for the Federal Reserve to move toward easier policy.

Recent U.S. inflation data has already complicated the Fed outlook. September CPI increased 0.6% month over month and 3.7% year over year, with gasoline responsible for more than half of the monthly increase.

Markets still heavily favor no rate change at the October 27-28 Fed meeting, but expectations for another hike in December remain high. That keeps pressure on non-yielding assets such as gold and silver.

There is another factor that helps explain why metals have fallen even as investors are nervous about stocks.

The technology selloff has triggered wider risk reduction across markets. Investors facing losses or margin pressure elsewhere can sell profitable or liquid positions in gold and silver to raise cash. Reuters reported that this dynamic contributed to the latest precious-metals liquidation.

So the current move is not simply about the dollar or Treasury yields.

High oil, inflation fears, Fed uncertainty and forced deleveraging are all hitting the metals market at the same time.

Gold and Silver Price Predictions for October 24

Both metals are becoming technically oversold, so I would be careful about expecting the current pace of selling to continue indefinitely.

But oversold does not mean the bottom is already in.

MetalBullish scenarioBase caseBearish scenario
GoldHold $4,000 → $4,040-$4,100$3,975-$4,060Break $3,975 → $3,950-$3,900
SilverHold $53-$54 → $55-$56$53-$55Break $53 → $52, then $50

For gold, $4,000 is the level that matters most.

A strong rejection from below $4,000 followed by a recovery above $4,040 would be the first sign that sellers are losing control.

For silver, I would watch $53. A defense of that area could produce a relief move back toward $55-$56.

My bias for October 24 remains cautious rather than aggressively bearish.

The trend is still down, but RSI readings near 30 mean the risk of a violent countertrend bounce is now considerably higher than it was earlier in the week.
