The Bitcoin price getting back to $80,000 has become one of the most talked-about topics in the world of crypto. The BTC price is trading around $62,900. As such, any return to the $80,000 level would represent an important recovery. It begs the question; what will happen to the XRP price in such a case?
That question is worth asking because the XRP price tends to react when Bitcoin makes a major move. XRP does not mirror BTC every single day, but a strong Bitcoin rally usually improves sentiment across the entire crypto market and brings fresh liquidity into altcoins.

What Bitcoin Needs Before $80,000 Becomes Realistic
We had a look at the BTC chart, and the problem mainly exists in the range of $60,000 to $65,000. Bitcoin is still locked in that range since it failed to climb to a higher level of $80,000 to $82,000 in early 2026.

For the BTC price to attempt breaking through $80k, the first step will be a daily close above $65,000 with better volume. In that case, traders will aim for $72,000-$75,000 next. The Polymarket is still offering chances for that scenario to take place, around 32%, for Bitcoin to break $80k before year-end 2026.

The overall background is not totally negative. There are still $79.2 billion worth of assets being managed by the spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US, and from an on-chain analysis, wallets holding between 10 to 10,000 BTC continue to buy more tokens despite weak market performance. It appears that the biggest challenge is the CLARITY Act.

What ChatGPT Thinks Happens to XRP at $80,000 Bitcoin
I asked ChatGPT to model the scenario using the current XRP price structure, Ripple’s latest XRP Ledger investments, the August escrow release, and the assumption that Bitcoin successfully reclaims $80,000.

The base case estimate ranged between $1.40-$1.50. It was quite obvious that going from $62,900 to $80,000 will be roughly equivalent to a 27% rise in the BTC price and should boost the appetite for risk in cryptocurrency markets.
The more bullish scenario was the $1.85 estimate in case of breaking the $80,000 level by Bitcoin, the tokenization initiatives by Ripple and XRP price getting above the $1.50 level. The pessimistic scenario would remain around the $1.05-$1.20 level, in case of Bitcoin rising to $80,000 while XRP being stuck in its range.
What the XRP Chart Is Saying Right Now
The XRP chart is still in the process of forming a bottom. The XRP price is trading at about $1.06 after several months of trading within the range of about $0.95 to $1.25. There is little momentum but it hasn’t collapsed yet with the daily RSI at 43.7. The key support remains in the range of $0.90-$1.00.
On the upside, traders are watching $1.10-$1.20 first. A strong daily close above $1.20 would be the clearest sign that the XRP price is leaving the current range and attempting a stronger recovery.

One thing to pay attention to is trading volume. Activity has been fairly quiet since the February 2026 capitulation event, which usually points to a market that is still rebuilding instead of one that has already started a full recovery.
If the XRP price can push back above $1.10 and volume starts to pick up, I’d be much more confident about a move toward $1.20. If volume stays light, XRP may continue chopping between $1.00 and $1.10 for a while before the market makes a clearer directional move.
How Bitcoin’s Next Move Could Influence XRP
If Bitcoin does get back to $80,000, I think the XRP price is more likely to trade in the $1.20-$1.50 range than immediately jump back toward its previous cycle highs.
Deepening our push into capital markets, we are investing in ZILO and Licuido to add regulated transfer agency, issuance and collateral mobility to our capital markets infrastructure built on the XRPL. This comes on the heels of Aviva Investors tokenising its US Dollar Liquidity…
— Ripple (@Ripple) August 3, 2026
The reason is that XRP still has its own story. Ripple’s investment in ZILO and Licuido expands regulated issuance and collateral infrastructure on the XRP Ledger, and more than 32 billion XRP remains locked in escrow even after the latest 1 billion XRP August release.
So my view is pretty simple: an $80,000 Bitcoin would likely help the XRP price, but XRP still needs a confirmed breakout above $1.20 before a move toward $2 becomes the higher-probability outcome.
