A video from Altcoin Buzz explores the potential of the SUI token in comparison to Solana (SOL) during the current crypto bull run. The analyst acknowledes Solana’s impressive performance in previous cycles.
SOL reached an all-time high of around $260 before dropping to $8. He praises Solana as “The Comeback Kid of Crypto,” indicating that its recovery serves as a model for other projects.
However, he introduces SUI as a “new kid on the layer-one block.” He suggests that it could replicate Solana’s explosive growth seen in 2021.
The analyst notes that SUI has recently experienced a significant rise, gaining over 100% in September and sitting only 20% below its all-time high. He expresses optimism about SUI’s potential in the 2024-2025 bull run and hints that it may challenge Solana’s dominance.

Technical Comparison and Ecosystem Analysis
The analysis shifts to a technical comparison between SUI and Solana. While Solana has been operational since March 2020, SUI is a newer entrant, having launched its token and mainnet in April 2023.
The analyst explains that SUI’s architecture is distinct, utilizing the Move programming language and an object-centric design that allows for direct ownership control, particularly advantageous for NFTs.
He highlights SUI’s parallel transaction execution, which enables it to process multiple transactions simultaneously, thereby outpacing Solana’s linear execution. An upgrade called MTI Seti has reduced transaction latency to 390 milliseconds, positioning SUI as a speed leader, although Solana is also working on its Firedancer upgrade to enhance its performance.

Ecosystem-wise, the analyst points out that Solana’s established presence gives it an edge, boasting around 2,000 projects compared to SUI’s 90. He notes that while Solana has two ETFs awaiting approval in Brazil, SUI has made strides in Europe with an ETP and a Grayscale trust, although U.S. approvals remain pending.
In the DeFi space, Solana leads significantly with a Total Value Locked (TVL) of approximately $5.5 billion, whereas SUI has just under $1 billion. However, SUI has shown rapid growth, with a 65% increase in its TVL recently.
The Bull Run Winner
In conclusion, the crypto analyst acknowledges Solana’s leadership in terms of market cap, ecosystem, and overall influence.
While he believes SUI may not overtake Solana in this bull run, he predicts it will make significant strides and could potentially enter the top 20 in market cap, perhaps even the top 10 in the future.
