Stellar (XLM) Price Prediction: Institutional Adoption Meets a Key Technical Test

Stellar has been making progress on the network side, with institutional funds moving on-chain and another protocol upgrade approaching. The problem is that the XLM price has not responded yet.

XLM is trading around $0.1592 after falling from approximately $0.2250. So, there is an interesting contrast here: Stellar’s infrastructure and institutional use cases are expanding, but the token remains in a clear downtrend.

Stellar Is Getting Ready for Protocol 28

Stellar’s upcoming Protocol 28, called Adapter, is focused on making the network easier to maintain as its ecosystem grows. Scopuly reported that one of the key changes comes through CAP-83, which allows validators to continue reaching consensus even when transaction data is delayed. That should make the network more resilient during periods of heavy activity.

CAP-85 targets Soroban smart contracts. It allows groups of contracts to use a shared, updateable code reference, meaning developers can make changes across multiple contracts without updating each one separately.

CAP-86 focuses on contract data migrations, giving developers more flexibility when applications need to change their data structures. The schedule is already set, with the testnet vote planned for August 27 and the mainnet vote scheduled for September 16.

These upgrades are important because Stellar now has use cases beyond payments. The network is being used for stablecoins, tokenized funds, RWAs and institutional financial applications, so better infrastructure becomes increasingly important.

BNY Investments Adds an Institutional Use Case

Stellar is also getting a boost from its connection to traditional finance. Marketnode is partnering with BNY Investments to bring selected investment funds on-chain through Stellar. The initiative will give institutional and accredited investors in APAC another digital route to access established investment products.

For Stellar, this means real investment funds are being represented and transferred on-chain through its infrastructure. For the XLM price, though, there is an important distinction. More institutional activity on Stellar does not automatically mean immediate buying pressure for XLM. The market will need to see whether this activity translates into sustained network usage and demand.

The XLM Price Still Has a Lot to Prove

We had a look at the XLM/USDT chart, and the technical picture remains bearish. The XLM price is around $0.1592, down from roughly $0.2250. The chart continues to form lower highs and lower lows, with the latest lower high near $0.1800.

There is one encouraging development. CW reported an accumulation score of 85, and the chart’s “ACCUMULATION ENGINE” has entered its accumulation zone. The first level bulls need to defend is $0.1550. The broader support area runs from $0.1550 to $0.1500, with $0.1450 providing another important level below it.

If XLM holds $0.1550 and breaks above $0.1650 with strong volume, the next target would be $0.1750-$0.1800. Clearing $0.1800 would be more important because that area lines up with the descending trendline. A successful breakout could then put $0.2050 into play.

The Broader Market Could Still Hold XLM Back

The accumulation signal needs to be viewed alongside the wider crypto market. Bitcoin has been decoupling from global M2 in the data reviewed earlier, and capital has also been moving toward tokenized assets and yield-generating products.

Since XLM tends to correlate strongly with Bitcoin, continued weakness in the BTC price could make a sustained XLM recovery harder. That makes the $0.1550 level especially important. Losing it could send the XLM price toward $0.1500 and potentially $0.1450.

For now, Stellar has a stronger fundamental story than its price action indicates. Protocol 28 is targeting specific network improvements, BNY Investments is bringing funds on-chain, and the accumulation score has reached 85.

The XLM price still needs to prove that buyers are ready to take control. Holding $0.1550 would be a good start, but a move above $0.1650 would provide the first real confirmation. Above $0.1800, the case for a broader reversal becomes much stronger.
