The long-standing rivalry between Bitcoin and XRP communities just got a fresh spark. On June 20, the official Bitcoin account on X (formerly Twitter) took a direct jab at XRP, posting a meme that mocked the token in front of its millions of followers. The post showed a two-panel comic-style image where a child looks at the bottom of his shoe and says, “I just stepped in some crap.” The next panel zooms in to reveal the “crap” under the shoe is labeled as XRP.
As expected, the meme didn’t go unnoticed.

XRP Community Fires Back
XRP supporters immediately fired back with memes and commentary of their own. One user, Six8Jay, flipped the original meme and replaced the caption with “slow crap,” pointing the insult back at Bitcoin’s notorious transaction times. In this version, the “crap” on the shoe was Bitcoin itself.
Edoardo Farina, a known XRP advocate and founder of Alpha Lions Academy, responded by highlighting the origins of the XRP Ledger (XRPL). He reminded users that Ripple’s early architects – David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto – designed XRP specifically to fix Bitcoin’s weaknesses, especially its slow and energy-heavy proof-of-work model. He even went so far as to label Bitcoin as the “(B)eta (T)est (C)oin,” positioning XRP as the final, more efficient product.

Another XRP community member, RISKTAKE, implied that Bitcoin’s trolling was rooted in fear. “They only attack what they’re threatened by,” he posted. Others joined in by mocking Bitcoin’s speed, with one user joking that they tried to pay for coffee with BTC but were asked to wait because the transaction hadn’t confirmed yet.
Prominent XRP YouTuber Alex Cobb also entered the fray, revealing that the official Bitcoin account had blocked him on X. He called the move “super bearish,” adding more fuel to the drama.

A History of Tension
While crypto rivalries are nothing new, the BTC–XRP divide has deep roots. Earlier this year, the two communities clashed over the proposed U.S. crypto reserve initiative. Some Bitcoin maximalists accused Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse of trying to exclude BTC from the plan. Garlinghouse later denied this, saying he was advocating for a multi-asset reserve, not one focused solely on Bitcoin.
Interestingly, Ripple attempted a peace offering last month by donating the “Skull of Satoshi” – a symbolic art piece originally used to criticize Bitcoin’s energy usage. Garlinghouse called it a sign of respect and a nod to Bitcoin’s endurance. But less than a month later, Bitcoin’s official X account has stirred the pot again.
Will the Feud Ever End?
Despite calls from some users to end the feud and unite the crypto community, it seems the rivalry is as strong as ever. The latest meme war has once again split opinion between those who see XRP as a faster, more scalable alternative, and those who believe Bitcoin remains the king, flaws and all.
In the end, the meme may fade – but the debate over Bitcoin vs XRP is far from over.
