XRP analyst Bobby A remains bullish on XRP heading into 2027, but he is becoming less convinced by the story that originally supported much of his long-term thesis.
In a recent post on X, Bobby A said he still owns a large XRP position and expects the asset to perform well during the broader bull market. His concern is not primarily the XRP price today. It is whether Ripple and the XRP Ledger are keeping pace with how quickly the crypto market is changing.
He pointed specifically to tokenization and cross-border payments, two areas that have long been central to the XRP narrative.
Bobby A Questions Whether XRPL Is Keeping Up
Bobby A said he previously expected real-world asset tokenization to develop heavily on XRPL.
He is now less certain.
“It appears more tokenization is happening on Ethereum than on XRP,” he wrote, arguing that Ethereum currently has greater momentum in this part of the market.
His criticism also extends to XRP’s traditional cross-border settlement argument.
I own a lot of XRP, and I expect the asset to do very well during this bull market, like many others. That said, I once believed RWA tokenization would happen on XRPL. The bottom line is that I’m not so sure anymore. It appears more tokenization is happening on ETHEREUM than on XRP. I’m also no longer impressed by the lightning fast cross border settlement narrative. It’s 2026, and things have changed. The market has evolved. Gas isn’t really an issue like it was back in 2020. And if I’m being real, I feel like Ripple has fallen a bit behind in innovation. XRP is starting to feel a bit dated to me as an asset. I may catch some heat for this, but you all know that I have always called it as I see it. And keeping it real is what we do here. Hopefully things change soon. A change we can all clearly identify and stand behind. Regardless, I still hold my XRP, and as I said above, I’m bullish heading into 2027. I’d just like to see more innovation as blockchain evolves. The fast-settlement, cross-border transaction narrative feels a bit outdated in 2027, and currently tokenization isn’t happening on XRPL. It’s happening on ETH.

Fast and inexpensive international transfers were once a much stronger differentiator, especially when competing blockchain networks were slower or considerably more expensive to use. Bobby A believes that advantage has become less compelling as the broader industry has improved.
He wrote that XRP is “starting to feel a bit dated” and said Ripple appears to have fallen behind somewhat in innovation.
That is a notable criticism because it is coming from someone who still describes himself as bullish and continues holding XRP.
His argument is therefore not that XRP is doomed or that its price cannot rise.
It is that a bull market can lift XRP even if the fundamental narrative underneath it needs updating.

For XRP holders, that creates a different question going into 2027.
Price performance may still benefit from a broader crypto recovery, regulatory clarity and Ripple’s institutional expansion. But if XRPL is going to maintain a strong long-term case, Bobby A wants to see clearer progress in areas such as tokenization, DeFi and other applications beyond the familiar fast-settlement narrative.
As he put it, he is still bullish, but he wants “more innovation as blockchain evolves.”
