Bitcoin and XRP Slip Into Fear as Ethereum Becomes Crypto’s Crowd Favorite

Ethereum has become the clear crowd favorite among the three largest crypto assets tracked in Santiment’s latest social sentiment data.

Santiment Intelligence reported that ETH currently has 2.05 bullish comments for every bearish one across X, Reddit and Telegram.

Bitcoin is on the opposite side of the spectrum, with only 0.82 bullish comments per bearish one. XRP is also below neutral at 0.92.

That creates a wide sentiment gap between ETH and the other two assets.

Ethereum’s bullish-to-bearish ratio is roughly 2.5 times Bitcoin’s and more than twice XRP’s.

Ethereum Sentiment Moves Into FOMO Territory

Santiment’s chart (posted yesterday, on October 13th) places Ethereum firmly inside what it labels the FOMO zone.

The firm linked the optimism to ETH’s rebound above support, continued staking demand and expectations around future network upgrades.

The 2.05 ratio means bullish comments currently outnumber bearish ones by more than two to one.

That is a strong sentiment reading, but it is not automatically bullish for price.

Santiment often treats extreme crowd optimism as a potential contrarian signal because traders can become most enthusiastic after much of a move has already happened.

The chart itself makes that point clear. Previous sentiment spikes have not always been followed by immediate upside.

Bitcoin and XRP Traders Are Much More Cautious

Bitcoin’s ratio has dropped to 0.82 bullish comments for every bearish one.

Santiment linked the weaker mood to repeated rejection around $87,000, a move toward $81,000, long liquidations and pressure from the broader macro environment.

XRP is in a similar position.

Its ratio is 0.92, meaning bearish commentary slightly outweighs bullish discussion.

Santiment pointed to XRP’s recent weekly decline, liquidations and difficulty reclaiming the $1.40 area as reasons for the weaker mood.

The gap is notable because BTC and XRP are both trading with cautious social sentiment, whereas ETH is attracting much stronger optimism.

Why the Sentiment Split Is Worth Watching

The interesting part of Santiment’s report is the contrarian angle.

If prices begin recovering, fear around Bitcoin and XRP could leave more room for sentiment to improve without the market already being crowded with bullish expectations.

Ethereum has the opposite setup.

The crowd is already heavily optimistic, so ETH may need stronger price confirmation to justify that level of enthusiasm.

This does not mean BTC or XRP must outperform ETH next.

Social sentiment is only one input, and it does not replace price structure, liquidity or on-chain data.

Still, the current reading is unusually polarized.

ETH has 2.05 bullish comments per bearish one, compared with 0.82 for BTC and 0.92 for XRP.

For traders using sentiment as a contrarian tool, that makes Bitcoin and XRP fear potentially more interesting than Ethereum’s current FOMO.
