In what some see like an interesting blend of old and new technology, Classic Recreations – a company famous for rebuilding and customizing classic Ford automobiles – has decided to allow its customers to pay for their vehicles with cryptocurrency.
The US-based company has indeed launched itself into an unexplored territory, as this will be the first time a custom car manufacturer has decided to accept crypto payments. Coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin or McAfee-supported Docademic will be among some of the currencies that potential customers will be able to use to purchase their custom rides. The company specifies that they won’t remain limited to these cryptocurrencies in the future.
“The company has set up electronic wallet addresses associated with each supported cryptocurrency, as well as the obligatory encryption software to ensure privacy,” claims a report by Digital Trends. Customers will pay for their products by transferring their crypto funds from personal wallets to the fitting Classic Recreations wallet.
Owner of the company, Jason Engels, thinks cryptocurrencies have gone a long way since their inception, bringing a certain universal aspect to the global markets. He feels like this move will enable his company to expand its customer base, allowing interaction and potential business cooperation with buyers from all over the world. To quote his statement in full:
“My entire life I have had a strong fascination for technology and its evolution. Cryptocurrencies have come a long way and continue to solidify themselves as a legitimate currency on the global market. The truck beauty of accepting cryptocurrency is the universal aspect of it which allows Classic Recreations to connect with consumers from anywhere in the world.”
Classic Recreations specializes in restoring and enhancing vintage Mustangs and has also been licensed by Ford to perform its activities. They sometimes produce classic models from scratch (as per Ford license/instructions), referring to these vehicles as ‘continuation models’ rather than replicas. The 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang seems to be the basis of most of their work, as they sell several models that are customized versions of this Ford all-time classic.
Other Mustang models like the 1969 and 1970 Boss 429, Boss 302, Mach 1 and even the more modern Camaro can also be bought with your cryptocurrency from now on. The pricing is variable, but expect to spend more than $100 thousand dollars for the cheapest model. And while most people probably dream of purchasing that much coveted Lambo with their crypto money, it is good to know that there are alternatives out there for the folk that prefer a more classical look for their guilty mid-life crisis pleasures.
