A hot debate is swirling around which token in the Shiba Inu ecosystem is the better investment – the flagship meme coin SHIB or the gas token BONE. As investors, we decided to break down the pros and cons of each to see where we stand.
On the BONE side, the arguments for upside are compelling. With a much lower market cap than SHIB, BONE has a lot more room to run. The coming launch of Shibarium also gives BONE major utility as the network’s gas token, which could send demand surging. Just look at the gains other layer-2 gas tokens have seen.

However, the case for SHIB can’t be ignored. It remains the most popular and recognizable token in the ecosystem by far. The community around SHIB dwarfs BONE right now, and that brand power counts for a lot in crypto.
SHIB also has growing utility as it expands into NFTs, metaverse projects, and more. And with staking expected to arrive soon, SHIB becomes an attractive passive income play for HODLers. While upside may be lower, its use cases should still fuel steady, organic growth.
