Why Kaspa (KAS) Keeps Beating Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum in This Ranking

Kaspa has spent much of 2026 trading far below its previous highs, yet one important ranking paints a very different picture of the project. KAS has remained ahead of some of crypto’s biggest names on CoinMarketCap’s community sentiment ranking, including Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum.

That position becomes more interesting when Kaspa’s recent network developments are considered. The Toccata upgrade has been live for about 7 weeks, activity on Igra has increased, and KAS price has climbed from around $0.0253 on August 18 to as high as $0.0310 on August 22.

BSCN drew attention to the CoinMarketCap ranking, noting that Kaspa has held the top position for weeks. PUMP, PEPE, Worldcoin and Pi Coin have also appeared near the top, but KAS has remained ahead.

The question now is why Kaspa keeps holding that position despite Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum having much larger market capitalizations and broader recognition.

Kaspa Leads CoinMarketCap Community Sentiment Ahead of Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum

BSCN reported that around 90% of crypto assets were showing bullish sentiment as the broader crypto market improved. Kaspa still managed to stand apart from the crowd.

CoinMarketCap’s community sentiment ranking placed KAS at number 1. The arranged top 10 shared by BSCN was:

RankCryptocurrency
1Kaspa (KAS)
2Pump.fun (PUMP)
3Pepe (PEPE)
4Worldcoin (WLD)
5Pi Coin (PI)
6Bitcoin (BTC)
7XRP
8Dogecoin (DOGE)
9Ethereum (ETH)
10Solana (SOL)

The ranking does not mean Kaspa has overtaken Bitcoin, XRP or Ethereum by market value, adoption or network size. It measures community sentiment on CoinMarketCap, which makes the distinction important.

Kaspa holding first place for several weeks still gives the ranking some context. KAS is not appearing there after a single day of stronger sentiment.

Bitcoin takes sixth place despite remaining the largest cryptocurrency. XRP comes next at seventh, followed by Dogecoin at eighth. Ethereum ranks ninth, and Solana completes the list at tenth.

Kaspa’s Toccata Upgrade Is Starting to Produce Measurable Network Activity

Recent Kaspa developments offer some clues about why interest around the network has remained strong.

The Toccata hard fork activated on June 30 and expanded what developers can build around Kaspa. The upgrade introduced zero knowledge verification and covenants, which gave Kaspa programmable Layer 1 capabilities beyond its original payments focused design.

BSCN reported that Kaspalytics recorded 1,196 covenant creating transactions during a recent 24 hour period. More than 2,700 covenant outputs were created during the same period.

Zero knowledge usage remains much smaller. Only 9 ZK precompile transactions were recorded during that window, split between Groth16 and R0Succinct proof verification.

Igra provides a much larger activity figure. The EVM compatible Layer 2 anchored to Kaspa processed around 54,000 transactions over 24 hours. KRC inscriptions followed far behind at roughly 1,900 transactions.

Network adoption of the post Toccata software also appears advanced. BSCN reported that 86% of recent blocks came from node version 2.0.1.

Those numbers give Kaspa supporters something measurable beyond KAS price movements. Toccata is live, and parts of its new infrastructure are already being used.

Kaspa’s Fair Launch Structure Could Become More Relevant Under New US Crypto Rules

Kaspa supporter David, known as @davevw_ on X, believes regulatory developments could become another important factor over the coming months.

David pointed toward the CLARITY Act and its expected Senate procedural vote on September 15. He also focused on several characteristics that separate Kaspa from many crypto projects.

Kaspa had no ICO, premine, preallocation or VC token unlock structure. The network was fair launched, uses Proof of Work and operates without central governance. Its maximum supply is roughly 28.7 billion KAS, and every KAS entering circulation comes through mining.

More than 96% of that maximum supply is already circulating. That leaves comparatively little future supply inflation from mining compared with earlier stages of the network.

David’s argument is that clearer US crypto rules could increase the importance of decentralization and distribution structures. The CLARITY Act has not become law, so its eventual impact on Kaspa remains uncertain.

Still, Kaspa’s existing structure could become an important part of the discussion if future rules distinguish between decentralized networks and projects controlled by companies or small groups.

KAS Price Has Climbed About 14% During a Strong 5 Day Stretch

KAS price has also started moving higher after spending much of 2026 inside a relatively narrow range.

Kaspa traded around $0.0253 on August 18 before moving to approximately $0.0269 the following day. KAS reached around $0.0280 on August 20 and climbed toward $0.0289 on August 21.

August 22 brought prices between roughly $0.0290 and $0.0310, which puts the 5 day increase near 14.6% from the August 18 level.

The $0.0300 region now becomes an important area to watch. Kaspa has spent much of this year between roughly $0.025 and $0.035, so a sustained move beyond the upper portion of that range would change the recent KAS price structure.

Commercial utility has also expanded through NOWPayments integration, although Kaspa faces a derivatives related setback. Coinbase plans to delist KAS perpetual futures on September 3, which could reduce access to that particular derivatives market.

Kaspa beating Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum on CoinMarketCap’s community sentiment ranking does not mean KAS has surpassed those assets across the wider crypto market. Bitcoin and Ethereum remain vastly larger networks by market value, and XRP has considerably broader exchange visibility and institutional infrastructure.

The interesting part is Kaspa’s ability to remain number 1 for several weeks as its underlying network changes.

Toccata has introduced programmable features, Igra is processing tens of thousands of daily transactions, more than 96% of KAS supply is already circulating, and KAS price has recently pushed back toward $0.0300.
