Bitcoin has picked up an unexpected endorsement from the MMA world after UFC star Paulo Costa publicly revealed that he holds BTC.
The Brazilian fighter shared a characteristically provocative post on X listing a series of personal habits and beliefs before ending it with one more declaration: he is a “Bitcoin hard holder.”
Costa did not disclose how much Bitcoin he owns, when he started buying BTC, or whether he plans to increase his position.
Costa is known for his outspoken social media presence, and the latest post was very much in line with that image.
Alongside comments about taxes, media, personal freedom and his lifestyle, the UFC fighter included Bitcoin as another part of the identity he was describing.
His choice of the phrase “hard holder” appears to mean he intends to hold Bitcoin long term rather than actively trade it.

For Bitcoin, the post adds another well-known athlete to the growing list of sports personalities who have publicly disclosed an interest in the cryptocurrency.
Athletes have become a visible part of Bitcoin’s wider cultural adoption.
Some have taken salaries or sponsorship payments in crypto, others have launched related businesses, and many simply hold BTC as an investment.
Costa has not announced any commercial Bitcoin partnership or payment arrangement. For now, his statement is simply a personal declaration that he owns the asset and considers himself a committed holder.
Still, with Costa carrying a large following across MMA and social media, the post puts Bitcoin in front of an audience that extends well beyond the usual crypto community.
