The TON Network experienced an outage lasting more than 7 hours during the early morning hours of Central European Time today. The network was down approximately from 12 AM to 7:20 AM.
However, we can see now on Tonscan that transactions are running smoothly again.
The TON-based community platform Tonk Inu reported that the TON network had been experiencing an ongoing outage and attributed the issue to a surge of market hype surrounding a newly launched memecoin called DOGS.
During this downtime, several exchanges, including Bybit, suspended all deposits and withdrawals for the TON network.
What TON Users Should Know
In situations like these, TON users should keep a few key points in mind. First and foremost, it’s crucial to stay informed through official channels. Following the TON Foundation’s social media accounts and checking their website for updates can provide real-time information about network status and expected resolution times. It’s worth noting that in this case, they were proactive.
Also, it can be frustrating to lose access to your assets. However, panic selling or attempting to force transactions through can lead to potential losses or complications once the network is restored. It’s generally better to wait for official confirmation that the network is fully operational before resuming transactions.
Lastly, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of diversification. Spreading assets across multiple networks or maintaining some off-chain can help mitigate risks associated with network downtime.
Also, we are one more time reminded that Ethereum is the safest network. I can’t recall that this could ever happened on the ETH blockchain.
