
Ripple and Chipper Cash are teaming up to make sending money into Africa faster and cheaper. In a joint announcement shared today, the two companies revealed a new partnership that will use Ripple’s blockchain-powered payment system to improve cross-border transactions across the continent. Ripple shared the news on X, saying, “Africa’s payments landscape is evolving—and crypto-enabled transactions are at the center,” tagging Chipper Cash as the new partner helping make it happen.

This collaboration will allow Chipper Cash users to receive money from around the world 24/7 using Ripple Payments. With Ripple’s technology, transfers that once took days can now happen almost instantly, at a lower cost. Chipper Cash, which operates in nine African countries and serves over five million users, plans to roll out this upgrade across its platform to streamline international money transfers.
Ripple Payments is already active in over 90 payout markets worldwide and handles over $70 billion in volume. By working with Chipper Cash, Ripple is expanding its footprint in Africa and building on the momentum it started back in 2023 when it partnered with Onafriq.

What Both Companies Are Saying
Reece Merrick, Ripple’s managing director for the Middle East and Africa, called the partnership a big step for the company’s growth in the region. He said the goal is to bring faster, more affordable payments to people and businesses while also supporting innovation in the process.
Chipper Cash CEO Ham Serunjogi added that crypto-powered payments can help more people across Africa access the global economy. With Ripple’s infrastructure behind it, Chipper Cash will be able to offer better service and lower costs to its users.
Furthermore, Ripple has been working in the crypto space for over ten years and holds more than 60 regulatory licenses around the world. Its digital asset platform is built to help financial institutions move, store, and manage digital value in a safe and compliant way.
Now, with this new partnership in place, Ripple and Chipper Cash are aiming to make cross-border payments into Africa smoother, faster, and more accessible for millions.
