Crypto News Today: Russia Moves Toward Regulated Crypto Trading as Bitcoin Risks Drop to $57K

Crypto is having a rough day. The whole market is down 2.67% in the last 24 hours, moving at $2.17 trillion. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and most alts are all in the red.

It started with South Korea’s Kospi index taking a nosedive. That spilled over into everything else. Then came the liquidations, $146 million in Bitcoin longs got wiped out, which only made the drop worse.

On top of that, everyone’s waiting on the Fed. Nobody wants to make big moves before that decision lands. But underneath all this, there’s still plenty going on in crypto. A few big stories are brewing.

Russia Prepares Regulated Crypto Trading Launch

Russia has taken another step toward regulating digital assets. The country’s central bank plans to introduce regulated crypto trading on September 1, publishing draft rules covering crypto exchanges, custodians and investor access.

The proposal requires exchanges and custodians to obtain licences and maintain at least ₽250 million in capital. Retail investors would also face an annual investment limit of ₽300,000 per platform and must complete a risk assessment before gaining access to crypto trading.

The proposal does not change Russia’s stance on payments. Using cryptocurrencies to pay for goods and services would remain prohibited.

If approved, the framework would create one of Russia’s clearest regulatory structures for digital assets, bringing stricter oversight to crypto trading.

Bitcoin Price Faces $57K Warning as Liquidations Rise

The Bitcoin price remains under pressure after another wave of leveraged liquidations. Analyst bee🐝 zoomed in on the Point of Control, that’s the price where most trading has happened in this range. And right now, that level is acting like a wall.

Bitcoin has hit that wall twice and bounced off both times. Reminds bee of what happened before the drop from $90,000 down to $60,000.

Bee’s not saying $57,000 is guaranteed. But getting turned away over and over makes a drop more likely, unless the BTC price can punch through $66,500 with real volume behind it.

The damage is already showing. Over $146 million in Bitcoin longs got wiped out in the last day alone.

Morgan Stanley Expands Crypto Products

Institutional adoption continues despite short-term market weakness.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management has launched the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL) on NYSE Arca. Both exchange-traded products carry a 0.14% expense ratio and will stake part of their ETH and SOL holdings.

The firm confirmed it will not retain any staking rewards, allowing investors to benefit from staking returns. Together with its existing Bitcoin product, Morgan Stanley now offers investment products covering Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.

CLARITY Act and Fed Decision Stay in Focus

Regulation remains one of the biggest themes in crypto. Market participants continue to watch developments surrounding the CLARITY Act, with many viewing the legislation as a potential catalyst for institutional adoption in the United States.

Supporters argue the bill would provide clearer rules for digital assets without changing the macro factors that continue driving crypto prices.

Macro conditions remain the bigger concern for traders today.

Bank of America expects the Federal Reserve to leave interest rates unchanged at its July meeting, describing a rate increase as highly unlikely. Markets are pricing only 10 basis points of tightening.

Even so, investors remain cautious because any surprise from the Fed could push Treasury yields and the US dollar higher, increasing pressure on risk assets, including the Bitcoin price.

For now, the crypto market remains driven by macroeconomic events. Russia’s regulatory plans and expanding institutional products point to continued industry growth, but traders appear focused on the Federal Reserve and whether the Bitcoin price can avoid another decline toward $57,000.
