Crypto sentiment has deteriorated dramatically over the past two months, with Bitcoin and XRP now having more bearish than bullish discussion across social media.
Santiment believes that could eventually become a contrarian opportunity.
Its latest sentiment data shows Bitcoin at just 0.69 positive comments for every negative one, while XRP is even lower at roughly 0.61.
Ethereum is holding up better at around 1.14, but enthusiasm has also dropped substantially from September.
The Binance hack accelerated that decline, pushing an already nervous market deeper into fear.

Bitcoin and XRP Sentiment Has Entered the Fear Zone
Santiment’s chart compares BTC price with positive-to-negative social sentiment for Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP.
The trend has been moving lower since September.
Bitcoin sentiment has fallen from readings well above 1.0 to approximately 0.69. XRP is near 0.61, meaning negative commentary now clearly outweighs positive discussion.
Ethereum remains above 1.0 at roughly 1.14, making it the least bearish of the three.
The chart also places BTC and XRP inside what Santiment labels the “FUD Zone,” where crowd sentiment becomes unusually fearful.
🚨 Crypto Sentiment Sinks As Fear Creates Contrarian Opportunity 😨 Sentiment around Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and other top caps has steadily weakened for nearly two months. The Binance hack predictably accelerated crypto’s sentiment downfall, causing bullish commentary to collapse as prices have fallen and fear has spread across the market. 📉 BTC now has just 0.69 bullish comments for every bearish one, while XRP sits near 0.61. ETH is healthier around 1.14, but enthusiasm has still fallen sharply from September. These ratios reveal when retail traders become unusually confident or fearful. And right now, it’s undeniable how much fear has swept over the community. 🔄 Historically, despite the unprecedented circumstances with the community still reeling from crypto’s largest ever hack, the darkest sentiment periods often create the strongest contrarian opportunities once panic has time to settle. 📊 If BTC and XRP sentiment stays below 1.0 while prices stop making new lows, keep an eye out for a likely eventual mid-term relief rally. Extreme fear alone does not mark the exact bottom, but fear plus price stabilization has often been a much stronger signal. 🔗 Link to Our Live BTC, ETH, XRP Sentiment Chart: https://t.co/6kF38onR47

That deterioration intensified around October 29, when the $6.3 billion Binance hack triggered another market selloff.
Bitcoin fell toward $76,000, Ether dropped below $2,200 and roughly $1.5 billion in leveraged crypto positions were liquidated during the initial decline.

Why Extreme Fear Can Become Bullish
Santiment’s point is based on a familiar market dynamic.
Retail traders often become most optimistic after prices have already risen significantly and most pessimistic after a large decline.
That means sentiment extremes can occasionally work as contrarian indicators.
But there is an important condition.
Fear by itself does not mean the bottom is in.
Santiment argues that the stronger setup would emerge if Bitcoin and XRP sentiment remains below 1.0 while prices stop setting new lows.
That combination would mean bearish conviction is still high even though sellers are losing the ability to push prices lower.
That is much more interesting than sentiment alone.
The Market Has Not Confirmed That Setup Yet
Bitcoin is currently trading around $76,700-$77,100, Ethereum near $2,250 and XRP around $1.25.
Those levels remain close to the lows reached following the Binance hack.
So far, there is not enough price separation from those lows to say the market has clearly stabilized.
The broader environment also remains fragile.
Binance has covered most of the assets stolen in the breach, and withdrawals are gradually reopening across additional networks, which reduces the immediate contagion risk.
But confidence has not fully returned, and BTC is still trading below $80,000.
