Bitcoin Price Tops $82K Again – How High Can BTC Go?

Bitcoin is recovering today after three consecutive days of losses, reclaiming $82,000 after briefly falling below $80,000 yesterday.

The rebound follows an intense selloff driven by hotter U.S. inflation and fears that the Federal Reserve could raise rates again. Those concerns have eased somewhat. Several Fed officials indicated there is no urgency to tighten policy again immediately, helping push the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield toward 5.08%.

The dollar has also weakened, which creates a solid backdrop for risk assets such as Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Whales Are Not Disappearing

Santiment reported another potentially positive signal on October 15.

The number of wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC has reached a record 20,338, continuing an increase that began around mid-July despite considerable Bitcoin volatility.

Santiment views this group as an important stakeholder cohort and argues that continued growth during price weakness can indicate that larger participants are not abandoning Bitcoin.

There is an important limitation. Wallet counts do not equal individual investors, and a rising number of addresses alone does not prove net accumulation. Still, combined with Bitcoin’s ability to recover quickly from below $80,000, the data gives bulls something to watch.

How High Can Bitcoin Go in This Recovery?

The immediate challenge is around $83,500-$84,000, an area Bitcoin traded around before the latest leg lower.

If BTC can reclaim $84,000 and hold above it, the next recovery zone is around $85,000-$87,000. The upper end would represent roughly 6% upside from $82,000.

A stronger move toward $87,000 would also bring Bitcoin back to the area where selling accelerated earlier this week.

The recovery is not confirmed yet, however. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $261.4 million in net outflows on the day of the CPI report, with preliminary data also showing modest outflows the following session.

For now, the short-term setup looks like this:

ScenarioBTC path
BullishHold $82K → $84K → $85K-$87K
Neutral$80K-$84K consolidation
BearishLose $80K → $78K area

Bitcoin reclaiming $82,000 is an encouraging first step, but $84,000 is likely the more important test. A clean move above it would make a larger recovery toward $85,000-$87,000 much more credible.
