Gold and Silver Price Prediction for This Week: Fed Decision Could Change Everything

Gold and silver are heading into a crucial week after a heavy sell-off. The gold price fell to $4,397.50 on Thursday, down about 1.5%, and silver dropped to $64.86, losing nearly 6%.

The decline came as Brent crude climbed to $105.07 amid rising U.S.-Iran tensions, increasing concerns about another wave of inflation. U.S. wholesale prices also rose 0.4% in August, adding pressure ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting.

The latest chart data puts the gold price near $4,348.90 and silver around $64.50. With the Fed decision due Wednesday, September 16, the price for both metals could change quickly depending on rates and Powell-style guidance from Chair Kevin Warsh.

Gold Price Outlook: Can Bulls Reclaim $4,500?

We had a look at the chart, and $4,500 is still the key level bulls need to reclaim before a larger recovery can develop. Gold is trading around $4,348.90 after falling from the $4,700 area. The decline broke below the $4,500 region and pushed price toward the $4,300 support zone

The chart shows gold finding buyers around $4,300, with the latest candles recovering from that area. There is also another important support near $4,230, followed by roughly $4,200. If $4,300 holds, gold has room to test $4,400 first, then the $4,450-$4,500 resistance zone.

The Stochastic indicator is at 39.53, with the second line at 54.10, showing that momentum has not fully turned bullish yet. The Ultimate Oscillator is stronger at 58.55 and rising, giving bulls some support. A move above $4,400 would improve the setup, but gold needs a clear break above $4,500 to open the door toward $4,650 and then the previous $4,700 area.

So, can bulls reclaim $4,500? Yes, but the chart needs confirmation above $4,400 first. A Fed decision that weakens the dollar or lowers rate expectations could provide the catalyst.

Silver Price Outlook: Is $70 Still Within Reach?

Silver has a tougher road, but $70 remains within reach if buyers regain control. The silver price is around $64.50 on the latest chart, after falling from the $68-$69 region and touching roughly $63.

The first test is $67. Silver has repeatedly traded around this area, making it the immediate resistance. Above $67, the next barrier is around $68-$69, followed by the major $71.20 resistance marked on the chart.

Momentum is starting to improve from depressed levels. The Stochastic reading is 30.18, with the signal at 33.84, leaving room for a stronger recovery if the lines turn higher. The Ultimate Oscillator has climbed to 55.66, which gives the bullish case more support.

A break above $67 could send the silver price toward $69 and then $70. If $70 is cleared, $71.20 becomes the next technical target. A failure below $63 would weaken that setup and put the $61 area into view.

Fed Decision Could Decide the Next Move for Precious Metals

The Federal Reserve’s two-day FOMC meeting runs September 15-16, with the policy decision scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday and Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The rate decision has become more important after August inflation data. The BLS reported that producer prices increased 0.4% in August, with final-demand goods rising 1.1% and energy prices climbing 4.2%. Reuters reported that market expectations for a September hike climbed to about 87% after the August CPI report.

A rate hike could pressure gold and silver through higher yields and a stronger dollar. A less aggressive decision or dovish guidance could have the opposite effect. Oil is another variable, with Brent closing at $104.61 on Friday after recording an 8% weekly increase amid Middle East supply concerns.

Gold and Silver Price Prediction for This Week

For gold, the bullish path is a hold above $4,300, recovery through $4,400 and a break of $4,500, opening $4,650-$4,700

The neutral path is consolidation between $4,300 and $4,500 if the Fed delivers a rate hike without aggressive future guidance. The bearish path is a break below $4,300, exposing $4,230 and potentially $4,200.

For silver, the bullish path is a move above $67, followed by $69 and $70, with $71.20 as the next major resistance.

The neutral path keeps the silver price between $63 and $67. The bearish path is a break below $63, which could send silver toward $61.

The Fed decision will determine which of these paths becomes the dominant setup this week.
