Here’s Where the Solana (SOL) Price Could Go If the CLARITY Act Fails

Solana is taking a hit right now. The SOL price is down 2.04% in the last day to $72.97. And it’s not alone, the whole altcoin market is bleeding.

The Altcoin Season Index dropped nearly 14% to 37. That means money is running back to Bitcoin and safer assets. Nobody wants to take risks on smaller coins at the moment.

What’s strange is that Solana’s network is bustling. Record activity. More adoption. Stablecoins moving around. None of that matters when the market turns cautious.

On top of that, the CLARITY Act, the bill that could bring clearer rules for crypto in the U.S., is stuck in the Senate. Lawmakers are about to go on their August break in less than 48 hours. If nothing moves before then, it’s not going anywhere for weeks.

So here’s the big question everyone’s asking: if that bill dies in committee, where does the Solana price go from here?

What’s Going on With the CLARITY Act?

The CLARITY Act hit another roadblock. Prediction markets give it just a 17% chance of passing this year.

The holdup isn’t about ideology, it’s about procedure. Senate leaders can’t even bring it to a vote because they’re stuck haggling over ethics language. And time’s running out. Lawmakers are heading home for August recess any minute now.

Some senators are still fighting for it. John Barrasso urged Congress to build on the GENIUS Act and get this one across the finish line. Dave McCormick warned that if they keep stalling, crypto jobs and investment will pack up and leave the country.

Even Elizabeth Warren admitted they need to do something about crypto. She still doesn’t like how the bill is written, but at least she’s not dismissing the whole idea anymore. So the bill sits in limbo, after nearly a year of talks and hundreds of pages of edits.

Here’s the thing to remember: the GENIUS Act failed its first vote last year too. Then it passed 68-30 five weeks later. So nothing’s dead yet. Congress comes back in September for about three weeks before midterm campaigning takes over. That window is tight, but it’s there. If negotiators keep talking, there’s still a shot.

News Supporting the Solana Price

Price is down, sure. But underneath the hood, Solana’s engine is firing on all cylinders.

July was a monster month. Solana apps pulled in $82.9 million in revenue, the best since February. That gave them 16.5% of all blockchain revenue out there, which actually put them ahead of Ethereum for that stretch. Stablecoin supply hit a record $15.7 billion. And memecoins? They made up about a quarter of all DEX trading volume as activity picked up.

Usage is off the charts too. In one week alone, Solana processed over a billion non-vote transactions. That’s not a typo. A billion. DeFi, stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, all of it is pushing the network harder than ever.

Institutional adoption also continues expanding. Zebec launched the first stock-backed payment protocol on Solana, allowing users to spend tokenized equities through Visa and Apple Pay. Backpack Securities also introduced a tokenized version of Take-Two Interactive stock on Solana ahead of the company’s earnings release, reinforcing the network’s leadership in tokenized equities. NFT marketplace Rarible also expanded onto Solana with creator royalty support.

Despite those developments, price action remains weak because spot demand has failed to keep pace with network activity. SOL also trades below its 100-day SMA at $78.06 and 200-day SMA at $84.71, leaving the broader technical structure under pressure.

Here’s What the SOL Chart Is Showing

We had a look at the SOL chart, and momentum continues favoring sellers.

SOL has spent the past several weeks producing lower highs after failing to reclaim the July peak near $82. Price is now consolidating around $73, with the stochastic oscillator falling to 3.06, placing it deep inside oversold territory. The Ultimate Oscillator is sitting around 38.8. That tells you buyers don’t have much muscle right now.

First floor to watch is $72. That level has been held a few times since late July. If it breaks, the next stop is $70. Below that, you’re looking at the $66 to $67 zone from June.

For buyers to take charge again, the SOL price needs to push back above $76. Then comes the real test, $78 to $80. That area has stopped every rally cold so far. Until that breaks, sellers are still in control.

Where Could the Solana Price Go if the CLARITY Act Fails?

If the CLARITY Act gets stuck until September, Solana probably stays trapped between $70 and $76. The network is humming along, record activity, growing adoption, so that should keep things from falling apart. But without a clear regulatory path, buyers won’t get too brave.

Worse case? The Senate leaves town with no plan, and altcoins keep bleeding. Then SOL could slide to $66 or $70, the next real floor on the chart.

The worst case of all? CLARITY fails outright and altcoin sentiment keeps sinking. If the Altcoin Season Index stays under 40 and sellers pile on, the Solana price could drop back to $62 or $64. That’s where buyers stepped in back in June.

Until Washington gets its act together and money starts flowing back into altcoins, SOL is stuck below its key moving averages. All that network activity doesn’t matter much if no one wants to buy.
