Ripple just released the XRPL AI Starter Kit. It is a set of tools for developers to build payment apps that use AI on the XRP Ledger. The launch comes as AI agents are starting to handle jobs like sending payments, settling invoices, buying access to APIs, and paying for digital services, all without a person in the middle.
The new toolkit introduces support for X402-powered payments using XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD), allowing AI agents to transact directly on the XRP Ledger.
Ripple says the goal is to provide developers with infrastructure that can support machine-to-machine commerce as autonomous systems become more common.
The first part of the XRPL AI Starter Kit makes it easier for developers to get to XRPL tools and documents. One new addition is the XRPL Docs MCP Server. It lets AI tools like Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and custom agent systems pull up XRP Ledger documentation when they need it.
Ripple also launched two new tools for Claude: XRPL Agent Wallet Skill and XRPL Payment Skill. These let AI agents do common tasks on the XRP Ledger, like creating wallets, checking balances, sending payments, and tracking transactions.
Developers also get new learning materials on XRPL.org. There are tutorials that help users finish their first agent transaction in under 30 minutes.
A major part of the launch is support for the X402 payment protocol. Through a contribution from infrastructure partner t54, XRPL is now supported within the protocol, enabling AI agents to pay for API calls, AI model inference, computing resources, and other digital services using XRP or RLUSD.
Ripple argues that the XRP Ledger is well suited for agentic payments because of its fast transaction settlement and predictable costs. Transactions on XRPL typically settle within three to five seconds, and fees remain low and known in advance.
The company says these characteristics are important for AI systems that need to manage budgets and execute transactions without manual approval processes.
The XRP Ledger also offers native multi-currency payments and a built-in decentralized exchange. This allows an AI agent to send RLUSD and deliver XRP to a recipient in a single transaction, with asset conversion handled directly by the network. Ripple notes that XRPL has operated continuously since 2012 and has not experienced transaction rollbacks during that period.
RLUSD plays a central role in the new initiative. Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin is designed to support payment use cases where price stability is important, including payroll, invoice settlement, and agent-to-agent commerce.
Since RLUSD is native to the XRP Ledger, it can move through the same payment infrastructure as XRP and can be exchanged through the network’s decentralized exchange.

Ripple says the launch marks only the first stage of the XRPL AI Starter Kit. Future updates will be guided by developer feedback and emerging use cases as AI agents take on more financial responsibilities.
For developers exploring autonomous payments, Ripple believes the XRP Ledger can provide the speed, reliability, and payment capabilities needed to support the next generation of AI-driven commerce.
The announcement also comes at a time when many investors continue to watch the XRP price closely. Although the XRP price remains influenced by broader market conditions, Ripple’s latest AI initiative expands the utility of both XRP and RLUSD and introduces another potential use case for the XRP Ledger ecosystem.
