Why Sei (SEI) Might Be Ready to Flip Monad (MON) Once the Hype Finally Clears

Some people can’t stop talking about Monad right now, but if you take a step back from the hype, something interesting is happening – Sei starts looking like the chain that’s actually built for the long run. The more you compare them side-by-side, the clearer that picture becomes.

The argument is pretty straightforward. Sei has enterprise-grade technology that already delivers sub-400ms finality, a huge 100 MGas/s capacity, a Twin-Turbo consensus system, and full EVM compatibility.

On paper, it actually outperforms Monad in several areas: Sei can hit around 12,500 transactions per second while Monad peaks closer to 10,000, and Sei’s network fees are up to three times cheaper.

Even from a distribution standpoint, Sei (SEI) looks healthier. It raised less VC money, is more community-owned, and is available on more major exchanges.

However, institutional preference adds another layer. Some of the biggest names in finance – BlackRock, Apollo, Brevan Howard, Hamilton Lane – have chosen Sei for on-chain experimentation and infrastructure.

There’s even a Staked SEI ETF already sitting on the DTCC active/pre-launch list. That kind of backing isn’t something many L1s can claim, especially this early in the cycle.

And just as the conversation around Monad is heating up, Sei dropped something major. Sei Labs released a new research paper introducing what they call “Sei Giga,” a next-generation architecture that uses multiple concurrent block proposers.

Traditional blockchains only let one proposer act at a time; Sei Giga changes the model entirely, unlocking new MEV behavior and making it possible to design protections before users ever feel the impact. It’s the kind of upgrade that can reshape how fast, safe, and MEV-resistant a chain can be.

For many Sei supporters, this is the real differentiator. While Monad is attracting attention with its early growth and performance claims, Sei is rolling out deep technical research and infrastructure aimed at institutional-grade reliability and long-term scaling.

The reaction from the Sei community has been overwhelmingly bullish, with many calling the upgrade a “GIGA bullish move” for the ecosystem.

So while Monad may be having its moment right now, Sei is quietly stacking real advantages – faster tech, cheaper fees, stronger institutional ties, broader distribution, and now a breakthrough in blockchain architecture. Once the hype cycle cools down, SEI might be the one that stands out.
