Kaspa’s long-awaited Crescendo update officially went live yesterday. It’s a big technical milestone that boosts the network speed from 1 block per second to 10 blocks per second. The upgrade also includes several improvements aimed at helping Kaspa scale even better in the future.
But despite all the excitement leading up to it, the price of KAS hasn’t really moved. It’s hovering around 7.5 cents, and there hasn’t been any major breakout or reaction from the market. So why is the Kaspa price flat even after one of its biggest upgrades?
Here are three possible reasons.
What you'll learn 👉
1. The News Was Already Priced In
The KAS price already made a big move before the Crescendo update even went live. Back in March, it dropped to around $0.57. From there, it bounced to over $0.10, so nearly doubling in just a couple of weeks.

That kind of rally usually means the market was expecting something big and traders were buying in early. By the time the actual upgrade happened, the excitement had already cooled off. This is a classic example of “buy the rumor, sell the news” – and in this case, it seems like many traders had already taken their positions and taken profits before the official launch.
2. The Market Is Boring Right Now
Even though Kaspa is making moves on the tech side, the rest of the crypto market is pretty dull right now. Bitcoin is moving sideways, altcoins are mostly red or stuck in tight ranges, and there’s just not much hype going around.
When the whole market is flat or slightly down, it’s hard for any single coin to shine. Even if the fundamentals are strong, traders tend to follow overall sentiment. Right now, there just isn’t a lot of energy in the space, and that’s likely holding Kaspa back too.

3. Upgrades Don’t Always Mean Instant Price Gains
Just because a project releases a big upgrade doesn’t mean the price will shoot up right away. Sometimes, it takes time for those improvements to be fully appreciated or even noticed by the broader market.

We’ve seen this happen before. Ethereum’s Shanghai upgrade didn’t lead to a massive price move overnight. Cardano also went through major updates in the past, with price reactions that were either delayed or muted.
Kaspa’s Crescendo upgrade is a big deal for the long term. It improves scalability, reduces network congestion, and opens the door for more advanced use cases down the line. But in the short term, these kinds of changes don’t always translate into immediate price action.
In the end, Kaspa is building quietly and making real progress. The price might not reflect it right away, but the foundation is getting stronger. If the market wakes up and momentum returns, KAS could be one of the coins that benefits most, especially now that its tech is ready for the next level.
