Ethereum Network is clogged up by shrimps, frogs and ants

Ethereum is the leading dapp platform but it has one big issue critics are relishing to mention all the time: it is slow and clogged up a lot of the time, transaction speeds are nowhere near to where they need to be to support all the features and services it want to use it.

Of course, this is more than known to the founders and main backers of ethereum blockchain and Vitalik and Co have marked the scalability solutions as they top task to work on.

But what Dapps take up most of the space on the Ethereum blockchain and cause it to congest and slow down to unbearable speeds?

The answer is almost nerve-racking: its mostly purposeless dapps like games or silly memes that are transferred across the network. As I am sure, most of you are already familiar with the case of Cryptokittes, a game that went viral back in December 2017 and almost made Ethereum unusable during that period.

Cryptokitties were basically treated as trade assets among individuals who traded them and earned money that way. They were like some kind of art-works and some of them went for as much as $140k per Cryptokitty.

These days, however, it’s not Cryptokitties that overcrowd Ethereum blockchain, it’s their animal kingdom relatives like shrimps, frogs, ants and some cartel drugs.

The full list of Decentralized Applications being held responsible for jamming the Ethereum network are five and listed on Dappradar.comEther Cartel, Ether Shrimp Farm, Ether Anthills, Pepe Farm and Snail Farm.

Ether Cartel is a “drug” game – a ‘Ether Shrimp Farm’ based and designed after the drug running business made popular by shows such as Narcos. The more Kilos you gather, the more drugs can be produced with an option of converting back to ETH.

In another farm game – Ether Shrimp Farm, you are cultivating shrimp to lay more eggs in order to farm even more shrimp. You can also cash out to ETH.

Ether Anthills is similarly modeled. Your goal is to produce more ants and the more anthills you have, the more ants are produced. Collect more anthills with your ants to increase production and convert to ETH.

Pepe Farm is another game of akin design but it comes with a twist. You want to have more Pepe farmers as they create more dank memes that can be exchanged for ETH.

Snail Farm comes with almost identical concept to the above mentioned games and is also part of the “cloggers clan” – it unselfishly helps in clogging up the Ethereum network.

To conclude: sharding and other scaling solutions for Ethereum cannot come fast enough as these Dapps become popular and the current network is unable to bear the weight of their popularity.
