Storj offers several advantages over more traditional cloud storage solutions; the users\u2019 files are encrypted, shredded into little pieces, and stored on a decentralized network of computers globally, so there is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@StorjQ\/how-storj-is-increasing-object-storage-security-exponentially-f0b7ff0bccbc#.xzwb8nejk\" target=\"_blank\">almost no conceivable way<\/a> for unauthorized third parties to access that data. Miners rent out their unused computing resources to the SAFE network, including hard drive space, processing power, and data connection\u200a\u2014\u200aand are paid in the native Safecoin.<\/p>\n<p>The SAFE network also supports a marketplace in which Safecoin is used to access, with part of the payment going to the application\u2019s developer. Miners can also sell the coins that they earn for other digital currencies, and these transactions can happen either on the network or directly between individuals.
